Here’s An Update On Carson Wentz’s Condition. Things Aren’t Looking Great For Eagles Fans

If you’re an Eagles fan, maybe don’t read this.

Carson Wentz, whose condition has been touch-and-go over the past few days from an injured back, has undergone several tests to try to figure out exactly what’s plaguing him. The details of his injury have been pretty vague, and range in description from “back soreness, a little tightness,” as Coach Doug Pederson put it, to potentially season-ending. And according to a new report per ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, Wentz underwent a back scan Wednesday that proved “inconclusive.” The QB will go in for further testing — which includes an MRI — on Thursday.

But the obvious takeaway from this news is that Wentz is now deemed “unlikely” to play Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams.

The silver lining in all of this, of course, is that the Eagles’ backup QB is Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles.

Foles started this season with the Eagles when Wentz was still recovering from ACL surgery until Week 3, so he’s not exactly rusty.

Still, an injury-prone quarterback is never a good thing, especially when reports about Foles possibly retiring or going elsewhere after this season lurk beneath the surface.
